Description:

Throughout recorded history, Nepal has nestled between the giant cultural formations of India to the south and China/Tibet to the north. With the globalization of modern times, international interests and concerns draw Nepal into contact with more distant corners of the world. There are now a multitude of non-governmental organizations at work in Nepal, many headquartered in the Kathmandu Valley. Some are international NGOs and some are purely Nepali, some are long running and some are startups. All of the websites archived here are NGO self-presentations of their aspirations and their achievements on various fronts—humanitarian, environmental, economic, political, religious, and more.

Description: Development Project Service Organization (DEPROSC) Nepal is a non-profit making organization established in September 1993 under "Association Registration act 1978" as a non-governmental organization (NGO). For the past two decades, the organization has been working in several thematic areas including livelihood improvement, social development (education, health hygiene, nutrition, and child development), community micro assets, natural resource management disaster risk management, and microfinance. The organization has been involved in implementing different humanitarian assistance programs during national crisis such as in Koshi flood, diarohea outbreak in Jajarkot in 2008, insurgency (2003-2006), food crisis in the hills and mountains of mid and far west, earthquake response in Nuwakot, Kathmandu and Lalitpur. Description: Organization founded in 1996 Hindu Kush Himalayan - Flow Regimes from International Experimental and Network Data (HKH-FRIEND) project is one of eight regional groups under the FRIEND project of the UNESCO/IHP (Project 1.1: Application methods of Hydrological Analyses using Regional Data Sets). The project brings together scientists and researchers from eight countries in the Hindu-Kush Himalayan (HKH) region – Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, China, India, Nepal, Myanmar and Pakistan. The region, extending over 3500 km from Afghanistan in the west to Myanmar in the east, represents an important source of water for nearly 500 million people with mighty rivers such as the Indus, Ganges, Mekong and Brahmaputra all rising within the Himalayan region. Its aim is to develop a better understanding of hydrological variability and similarity across different regions through the mutual exchange of data, knowledge and techniques. Such knowledge is vital to improve practical water resource and flood design methods and in developing scenarios for environmental change.
