Description: On August 20, 2018, protesters pulled down the statue from the top of the Confederate Monument, known as “Silent Sam”, that was located on the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill campus. In response, a number of public statements about the protest and the disposition of the monument were made by activists, students, UNC faculty and staff, elected officials and administrators, alumni, and the public. This collection contains many of those statements.
