This is a collection of the main Intergovernmental and Non-governmental Organizations (IGOs and NGOs) that focus on the environmental policy of climate change and global warming. Websites are selected for inclusion based on the prominence of the organizations work in policy, academic and the general media arenas. Title: In depth--Global Environment Facility

Description: Web site of the Global Environment Facility (GEF)which was founded in 1991 and unites 182 member governments — in partnership with international institutions, nongovernmental organizations, and the private sector — to address global environmental issues. The GEF provides grants to developing countries and countries with economies in transition for projects related to biodiversity, climate change, international waters, land degradation, the ozone layer, and persistent organic pollutants.

Description: Founded in 1971 by economist Barbara Ward, who forged the concept and cause of sustainable development, we work with partners on five continents. We build bridges between policy and practice, rich and poor communities, the government and private sector, and across diverse interest groups. We contribute to many international policy processes and frameworks, including the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, the Millennium Ecosystem Assessment and the UN conventions on climate change and biological diversity.
