Description: The Department of Children's Services responds to over 37,000 reports of child abuse and neglect a year and is responsible for providing temporary care or foster care for many of these children. Hundreds of children are in the guardianship of the State of Tennessee. The Department can find them foster homes, group homes and other residential settings as well as helps to find permanent placement for children through adoption services. The Tennessee Department of Children's Services Division of Juvenile Justice also serves children who have been committed to the Department by the juvenile courts for delinquent offenses.
