Description: This report examines the Pasto-Macoa Highway Project, an infrastructure project of the Initiative for the Integration of the Regional Infrastructure of South America (IIRSA). The project proposes to construct a highway from Pasto to Macoa within Colombia as part of the eventual construction of a transcontinental highway, from Tumaco, Colombia to Belem, Brazil, thereby providing a road linking the Pacific to the Atlantic. The statement declares the intention of the coalition to establish a Continental Network of Indigenous Communications in order to articulate the different networks, processes and experiences of indigenous peoples and nations. The statement includes a plan of action to establish this continental communication network.
